STEP #2: Complete an Application
The SC HELP application is a seven-step process. The first four steps will register you in our system and connect you with a housing counseling agency, while the remaining three steps contain critical information for us to be able to help you. Here you'll be asked for information about yourself, your mortgage lender and your property. This information will help your local housing counseling agency to quickly understand your situation and determine the best plan for you. STEP #3: Generate Required Information
These tools and checklists make it easy to gather up additional details your housing counselor will need. The Financial Worksheet is very important to the SC HELP process and should be as complete and accurate as possible. We've also provided a Hardship Letter Writing tool, which will help you generate this necessary personal document.
We realize this information we're asking for is very personal and that you may be reluctant to share it. It's important to know that you're not alone - with the recent economic downturn, many people have struggled to balance income with expenses. Please complete the application and worksheet as honestly as possible. The more detail you share, the more effective your housing counselor can help you.
